Come join our team!  The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA)Permanent full-time or part-time (0.8) position$95,000 to $104,99 excluding superannuationLocated in Melbourne or Sydney (virtual/hybrid work arrangements will be considered)Application closing date 6pm AEST, 26 June 2022About the role You’ll play a vital role in Australia’s leading organisation backing young people to create change. Working with the CEO, Executive Team and Board, you will coordinate our team and help drive forward key initiatives. You’ll keep our Executive Team and Board processes humming and ensure our CEO is optimally prepared for engagements throughout the week. You’ll support a broad range of organisational priorities through research, document preparation and and review, stakeholder management, scheduling and logistics. You’ll also play a key role in internal organisational communications. You bring senior experience in executive-level coordination & support such as in Senior EA or Chief of Staff roles, a succinct and collaborative communications style, a positive attitude and an ability to prioritise and refocus. Experience in the non-profit sector is welcome but not essential. FYA is backing young people to make change from their local area to national policy. We’d love to have you on the team!What we offerOur CEO and other key relationshipsAt FYA, you will report to the CEO Nick Moraitis. Nick joined FYA in 2020 and brings two decades of experience championing people-powered change. Previously, Nick led the leading capacity-building organisation Australian Progress, a leading social purpose consultancy, worked at leading campaigning groups including Amnesty International, Getup and Greenpeace. Throughout his career, a key theme has been championing of next generation social change leaders. Nick’s ambition (not always reality - this is partly why we need you!) for his work is:Eye on the horizon - Engaged in planning around novel and new initiatives and the long-term (>6 months from now) - ensuring the organisation has a bold and clear plan beyond the work we are currently in delivery-mode around. Enabling ambition - Creating space for us to do big things, by fostering cross org work and focus (more than the sum of our component parts), engaging high profile or value relationships, and weighing big decisions and committing to appropriate risk. Embedding values - Shaping, communicating, and holding us to our articulated values and purpose, and modeling a proactive, optimistic fun approach to life while working at FYA. In addition to working with Nick, you’ll work closely with our Board, Executive Team, and management across the organisation. Please see attached position description for more details regarding core responsibilities for the role. About youAs a learning opportunity, the ideal candidate for this role will have many, if not all of these experiences and skills:You have relevant experience. This could have included experience in a senior Executive Assistant, Chief of Staff, CEO Advisor or other senior executive support role.You have a high degree of professionalism, judgment, discretion and confidentiality. You’ll be able to work with the CEO, Executive Team and Board on matters that may be complex and sensitive. You have high-level written and oral communication skills. You communicate and liaise effectively and sensitively at all levels, both internally and externally, for a range of purposes. You know how to change your style of communication depending on your audience and the situation.You can balance conflicting priorities and maintain a flexible, resourceful approach while working to deadlines. You’ll be able to respond quickly when matters are time sensitive, and also coordinate longer-term pieces of work.You have meticulous attention to detail.You are confident in using the Google office suite. You know how to use Google for word processing, spreadsheets, creating presentations, and more!.You are skilled at building and maintaining productive relationships. You can work as part of a team and independently, with people at all levels, and with people internal to FYA as well as with external stakeholders.You have a demonstrated commitment to social change, likely through work or volunteering in non-profit organisations or social justice movements.About usWe’re the largest independent nonprofit in Australia dedicated to backing the capacity, voice, and power of young changemakers.
